Alvin and Wenonah Musgrove, long time residents of Olney, donated approximately 20 acres of land to the City of Olney to be used as a park. In May of 1997 the Dr. Monte Musgrove Aquatic Center was opened. The Aquatic Center was named after Mr. and Mrs. Musgrove's late son.
The City of Olney recently received a grant from Ameren Illinois for the planting of several trees in the park. These trees were planted during the 2015 season.
The Wenonah Musgrove Recreation Area features a two playground areas (including the Together We Play Park), shelter, lighted basketball courts, soccer field and skateboard park. Expected to be added in 2016 will be a Tree Identification Park.
Also located in this area is the Musgrove Ball Diamond Complex which includes four boys' baseball diamonds and four girls' softball diamonds. There is also a Babe Ruth ball diamond which is used by the Babe Ruth league and adult leagues.
